The canyon country of southeastern Utah and North eastern Arizona really unfolds before your eyes as you make the drive south from Natural Bridges towards Lee's Ferry and the Navajo Bridge. This is big sky country where everything you see has been shaped by wind and water and you get hints and glimpses of the coming chasm of the Grand Canyon. However, in places the canyons are so great and getting to the overlooks at Horseshoe Bend, admiring the Vermillion Cliffs, and a quick, but hot stroll, down to the Colorado River at Lee's Ferry don't require any guides.
