The peaks and walls of Doubtful Sound's fjords aren't as shear as Milford Sound, but it's still a beautiful spot and more alive with wildlife. Sailing to the mouth of the sound at the Tasman Sea you catch glimpses of penguins, sea birds, and seals. Another fascinating sight is shear volume of plant life clinging to the rock walls in the absence of any top soil. Doubtful Sound isn't the kind of place you want to be during a storm, but on a sunny day it's a great place for a lazy cruise among the giants.
